Our tenth year marks a momentous turning point in the Baby Café Charitable Trust's development. The Trustees are delighted to announce that The Baby Café is to join NCT to provide professionally led breastfeeding drop-ins throughout the UK.
The Boards of Trustees of The Baby Café Charitable Trust and NCT have spent several months exploring the feasibility of the two Charities merging. The benefits for The Baby Café are:
- Access to resources to support our existing network;
- Investment and support to grow the network;
- Increased joint working within the NHS;
- Improved partnership working across the third sector.
Nothing will change in the short term with The Baby Café and NCT each promoting our separate services and training but within a joint plan. By working together, the two Charities hope to make a significant difference in supporting mothers to establish breastfeeding and continue breastfeeding for longer.
The Baby Café organisation will continue to operate with its existing team and the branding will remain synonymous with high quality, professionally delivered breastfeeding support in the community. The service will remain free at the point of delivery to all mothers accessing it. All Baby Café drop-ins will continue to receive support from the main headquarters in West Sussex and from the same dedicated personnel. Mothers can expect to benefit from having access to more Baby Cafés across the UK.
“I am delighted that NCT have identified The Baby Café as being a natural partner in helping to support mothers who want to breastfeed,” commented Julie Williams, National Co-ordinator and Co-founder of The Baby Café.
