Gearing up for National Breastfeeding Week

To celebrate National Breastfeeding Week 2012 we caught up with Elizabeth Hillman, Gainsborough Baby Café facilitator to see what impact they have.

“We opened in January 2010 and have steadily impacted on the breastfeeding initiation and continuation rates in the local area. Our monthly evaluations show that Gainsborough Baby Café is valued by all who attend. This is due to it being a relaxed and informal environment where breastfeeding is the norm with professional health advice on hand if necessary.
The lasting impact on the community is the increased confidence of the mums we support. This creates peer groups who offer each other support and socialise with each other where they would not normally have.
Sustaining Gainsborough Baby Café has been our biggest achievement and we’re looking forward to celebrating National Breastfeeding Week with those who benefit from our service.”
